SHOOTERS BAR & GRILL STOMPS DAVIES 8-2 IN OPENING TILT

The EHJGHL got its 2017-2018 season off and running on Sunday September 17th, with the much anticipated 6:30 tilt between Shooters Bar & Grill and Davies Plumbing and Heating. It was the former that held the upper hand as Shooters skated to a 8-2 win to open the season on a high note. 

Davies would strike first just 27 seconds into the opening frame when Jimmy Davies (Lantz, NS) beat John Korecki on the opening shot of the season, with the helper going to Evan Locke. Shooters would then answer with 4 goals in the first half; recent pickup Nick Watson potted his first goal of the season with the assist going to Jeff Taylor. Kyle Miller with the help of Watson, Mitch Green (former Jr. B player with The Bay) from Jeff Taylor, and Watson, and Josh MacKeil from Jarrett Johns made it 4-1. 

In the second half it was more of the same for Shooters, Jarrett Johns made it 5-1 assist to Connor Hilton, Hilton would add his own with an assist from Cory Jean to make it 6-1. Kyle Miller scored a goal unassisted to make it 7-1, before Mitch Green scored his second of the game to make it 8-1, with helpers going to Hilton and Jean. Davies would add a goal late to make it 8-2, when Jordan Ashley connected with Zack Bates and George MacKenzie. 

John Korecki stopped 12 of 14 shots thrown his way for the win, while Scott Marrison stopped 19 of 27 in the loss. Davies faces AC Doors in next week's 7:30pm game, while Shooters faces CKG in the 8:30pm match.
