SACKVILLE WINS A BARN-BURNER 9-8 IN A SHOOTOUT FIGURATIVELY AND LITERALLY

Suffice to say defence was at a premium in the 7:30pm game Sunday at the Sportsplex. Sackville and Davies Plumbing and Heating combined for 16 goals in a night where the goalies will be having nightmares of pucks tonight. The win was Sack-Vegas' first in franchise history and their second straight game earning a point. Davies meanwhile put up a valiant effort and secured its first point of the season. 

Davies would get things started when Pat Stewart (Brookfield, NS) scored his first of the season unassisted nearly ten minutes into the game. Brendan Kline (East Hants, NS) would make it 2-0 also an unassisted marker to give Davies a quick jump. However, Sack-Vegas would respond, Zack Thomas would bury with a helper from Andrew Skinner to make it 2-1. Jeremy Thomas would make it 2-2, with helpers going to Blair Skinner and Shane Boudreau. Davies would answer when  Jimmy Davies would score his second of the season,  assist to Shubie's Cody Anthony. Brett Arthur made it 3-3, and 4-3 after back to back ginos with assists to Andrew Skinner. Davies would respond and score 2 to make it 5-4 heading into the break, Damon MacEachern unassisted, and Jimmy Davies (2nd of the night) from with assists to Cole MacDonnell (Belnan, NS), and James Shapleigh. 

Sackville would tie it at 5, when Shane Boudreau tallied with assists to Matt Arthur, and Justin Hessian. Sackville would go ahead 6-5 when Zack Thomas scored with an assist from Shane Boudreau. George MacKenzie (Enfield, NS) would make it 6-6 with the help of Jason Ellis, before scoring his second to make it 7-6 with an assist to Cody Anthony. Pat Stewart scored his second of the night unassisted to make it 8-6 and it looked as though Davies would sew up the win. However, Sackville wasn't finished Zack Thomas would score his third of the night with help from Boudreau, and Andrew Skinner in the last minute to make it 8-7. before playing hero and scoring his fourth win 17.1 seconds left to make it 8-8. 

Matt Arthur and Justin Hessian (winner) would score for Sackville, while only Evan Locke would score for Davies on 6 attempts. 


Mark Davis stopped 21 of 29 for the tie, while Scott Marrison stopped 15 of 23 also in the tie.
